5 Animated Movies to Watch With Your Family

I know how they say that animated movies are for kids, but sometimes I think that they are far superior to other movies that you can watch. These movies always have something to teach you,and they always strike a chord in your heart because of how immensely emotional these movies are. Plus, these movies have a way of bringing families together, with their homely vibes.

Shrek 2 is my favorite part of the entire franchise. I can’t tell you how many times I watched that movie when I was young, so watching it now is just like a nice shot of nostalgia. In fact, I watched the movie so many times that I knew all the lines by heart. 

Not only is the movie extremely fun, but it also has a lot of teachings in it. For instance, you don’t always have to look at physical appearances to fall in love with someone, and no matter how many wedges someone tries to drive in your love, true love always finds a way. Therefore, Shrek 2 is a pretty good option to watch with your family. 

Ratatouille (2007)

Ratatouille is another movie that I absolutely adore. Especially how it revolves around the idea that “everyone can cook”, which is just symbolism for the fact that you can achieve anything that you put your heart into, just be passionate about it, and you’ll find a way, even if you’re a street rat. 

However, another theme that the movie follows is that not all dreams are fulfilled, but that doesn’t mean that it is the end of the world. Towards the end, Gustaeu’s restaurant is closed, but that doesn’t stop Remy (the rat) and Linguini (the human protagonist) from chasing their dreams of becoming chefs. So, if you want to watch a good movie that teaches you and your family how to chase your dreams, then this movie is for you. 

Coco (2017)

Coco is by far one of the most beautiful animated movies I have ever seen. It teaches a beautiful message of following your dreams and keeping your passion for things alive, no matter how many people tell you not to do so. In Coco, it was music since it was banned in young Miguel’s home. 

However, Miguel travels to the land of the dead on the Mexican holiday, Dia de Muertos or the Day of the Dead, to meet all of his ancestors and learn why music is banned in his household. The movie is definitely a tearjerker, and it certainly brings you even closer to your family. So, make sure that you watch this one with your family, I guarantee that all of you are going to love it. 

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

This was the first-ever movie that featured Miles Morales as Spider-Man instead of the usual Peter Parker. However, Miles is trained by Peter B. Parker (from alternate universe!) after Peter Parker in his universe dies, and Peter B. Parker accidentally makes his way to Miles’ universe after a supercollider went haywire and tore open the fabrics of the multiverse. 

The movie teaches youngsters how to deal with responsibilities, especially when you feel super pressured and like your world is falling apart right in front of you. However, the movie also teaches you to believe in yourself no matter what, since the only person standing in your way to success is you. So, be more confident about yourself, and you can achieve anything, even be Spider-Man! 

Up (2009)

Up is nothing less than a knife to the heart because of how emotional the movie is. I remember crying my eyes out when I watched the movie for the first time. The movie is the beautiful story of Carl and Ellie, two adventurers from childhood who always wanted to go to Paradise Falls. However, Ellie gets sick and passes away, and Carl lives his life alone. 

One day, a young boy scout named Russell makes his way to Carl’s house, and that is where their super cute adventure begins. This is also a movie that you shouldn’t miss, since it will leave a beautiful impact on your life. 

If I, were you, I would start with Up and Shrek 2 since both of them provide a balance between heartfelt scenes and good humor, a great combination for family movies.
